The Bald Hills wind farm site consists of two distinct areas of the Bald Hills area. The first is an elevated site approximately 90 metres above sea level and approximately 10km kilometres from the coast.
The site encompasses operating cattle and sheep farms. The land is zoned rural in the South Gippsland Shire. Hilly terrain runs from the north to the south at the rear of the property at an appropriate angle to the prevailing wind.
The second area is located on the south end of Bald Hills approximately 2km from the coast. The land is cleared for grazing and zoned rural. Accesses to the sites are good and existing access tracks require only minor adjustment to facilitate development.
The development has been approved by the Victorian State Government under the EPBC Act in December 2006.
