Stockyard Hill
A 60 metre monitoring tower will be located on Stockyard Hill. The tower has been ordered and we are expecting delivery at the end of August. We expect the tower will be installed in September 2007. The monitoring tower will be in place for up to three years. Additional monitoring towers may be required. This will depend on environmental testing and ongoing wind monitoring.
Detailed environmental assessments and community consultation need to be undertaken before any planning applications are lodged. The outcomes from these assessments and consultations will dictate when any planning application is lodged. It is expected that the environmental assessments and consultations will be completed within the period June - December 2008. Any planning application would be submitted after this time.
The size of the project will dictate how the project connects to the gird. At this early stage of the proposal, the size of the project has not been finalised.
There will be no compulsory road access. Access tracks will be created through the property of landowners who are hosting turbines. Access tracks will not be required on land owned by people not participating in the project. All required access tracks will be decided in consultation with landowners and governed by our agreements with them. Wind Power will be required to prepare a traffic management plan for the proposal. This traffic management must be signed off by the responsible authority.
If the proposal proceeds, public liability insurance will cover the project. That is, the project owner is responsible and insures against this risk.
There is no evidence to suggest that rural land is devalued due to the existence of a wind farm. Wind Power will be required to comply with all relevant Federal and State government laws in the preparation and operation of its projects.
Wind Power will be consulting with all people affected by the proposal prior to any decision to proceed with a planning application. This is consistent with best practice guidelines developed by Auswind, with funding from the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Heritage.
